Makerspace Elementary School – the creative workshop for young tinkerers

Discover the Makerspace version of the elementary school set from The cool tool – specially designed for use in school makerspaces and creative learning environments. This set brings hands-on technical work, creative project-based learning, and collaborative experimentation into the classroom, making technical crafting more tangible than ever before.

The Makerspace Elementary Set combines proven elements of the UNIMAT system with expanded possibilities:

  • 8 versatile machines, including jigsaws, a sanding machine, lathes, and a drill press – ideal for age-appropriate workpieces and engaging projects.
  • A modular, flexible system that adapts to different groups, teaching situations, and project ideas.
  • Comprehensive building plans and material kits that support getting started and inspire students to develop their own ideas – individually or as a team.

This makes technical and creative work a natural part of the makerspace experience.

Through collaborative projects, students explore different processing techniques, strengthen their fine motor skills, develop problem-solving abilities, and experience how ideas become reality step by step. The Makerspace Elementary School concept playfully fosters technical understanding and prepares young makers for further experiences in STEM fields.

Use in the Makerspace

The modular UNIMAT system offers maximum flexibility and can be individually adapted to the requirements of any school makerspace. Whether set up compactly in a classroom or across a larger project area — the makerspace grows with the ideas of the children.

The set includes 8 machines, enabling the simultaneous use of different processing techniques. Sanding, sawing, and turning take place in parallel, making a wide range of work processes tangible and engaging.

In this way, students get to know various techniques through hands-on experience and implement their own projects independently or as a team. The makerspace becomes a vibrant place of learning where creativity, technical understanding, and collaborative tinkering take center stage.

For the Makerspace Elementary School, a wide range of ready-developed plans and project ideas is available—perfectly suited for use in makerspaces. Structured building plans and flexibly combinable material kits with components—such as for solar or engineering projects—provide an ideal foundation for open, project-based learning.

In school makerspaces, students can experiment, design, and turn their own ideas into real prototypes—individually or as a team. The UNIMAT Elementary Set supports creative tinkering, collaborative learning, and the independent use of tools and materials.
